Meat, dairy, farming and food 07.11.09
Today about 15 activists met up again by the roundabout next to Portsmouth Commercial Ferry Port. We were having another protest against Live Animal Exports which have been attempted in Portsmouth. We tied banners to the roundabout and held placards, so we could stand up for the animals that can't stand up for themselves.

We had a very lively protest today outside the Port and it seemed as if every other car was honking their horns in support, people were waving and smiling at us and it is very clear that the public are very much on our side with this campaign. 2 people wore cow costumes and we had lots of banners and placards this time. We stood in a row with different placards that when joined together read: 'Tell Celtic Link To Stop Live Animal Exports'.

It was a good visual display and the public responded well to it. We stayed there for 2 hours to make our message clear, and we must've been seen by so many people on this busy saturday afternoon as people drove to the City Centre. We chanted 'Stop the Cruelty, Stop the pain, Celtic Link are to Blame! - Stop Live Exports!' over and over again.

Once again, SARC would like to thank CIWF for their help and support and for providing wonderful campaign materials, it is really positive when groups can work together to fight against cruelty like this. SARC would also like to thank people for travelling to get to these protests, we were joined by activists from the Isle of Wight and Bognor Regis!

We are now desperately trying to get an update on the Live Exports, we know that they tried to export 3 lorries full of sheep, but they were turned away due to paperwork errors. There was also rumours of calves possibly being transported, but we are unsure of the situation. We will update you as soon as we know anything further.
